Play It Loud: Ty Segall

Play It Loud Mag.jpg

imgresI’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, welcome back to rock and roll. A few moments ago, singer-songwriter and exceptional guitarist Ty Segall has released yet another track via record label Drag City. Additionally, a video has appeared on Youtube which shows Segall and his newly formed squadron of grunge enthusiasts, the Freedom Band, playing an unreleased title.

Segall is currently gearing up to head out on a U.S. tour, with a few festivals and a European show sprinkled in towards the end. In terms of new releases, there has been a constant trickle of tracks from the twenty-nine-year-old musician mostly revealing themselves via Drag City’s Soundcloud feed. And per usual, each song out plays the previous. Segall continues to prove that his ability as an artist lies in his consistent stream of content. Not only does he work tirelessly to make new songs, each song is not only an improvement on a former track but a progression of Segall’s ability to create melody driven cuts-laden in thick fuzz.

Do yourself a favor and have a listen below. While these are just a small tasting of what’s to come, the two tracks do wonders in quenching one’s appetite for sound. Both songs have been on full-blast repeat since I discovered them. The album, Ty Segall will be released on January 27th via Drag City but unfortunately, Segall’s joint operation with the Freedom Band won’t reveal itself until later this year. But in the meantime, you can play these extra loud.
